Meet the Press Host and NBC News’ Washington bureau chief, Tim Russert, died suddenly Friday afternoon from an apparent heart attack. He was 58 years old.

Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton to Speak at Mayors Conference Print E-mail

Three Democratic stars will unite to speak at the 76h United States Conference of Mayors held at Miami in late June.

Presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama will address the conference on June 21, 2008. Former President Bill Clinton, will speak on the day after. New York Senator Hillary Clinton has also been invited and is expected to attend.

This meeting will host hundreds of  mayors from the country to debate and vote on economic, housing, education and climate policy recommendations to submit to Congress and the new Presidential Administration.

Some Republicans in Congress Will Not Endorse John McCain Print E-mail

Some Republican members of congress have refused to publicly support or endorse Senator John McCain for President, according to The Hill.

There are at least 14 GOP members who refuse to back the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee including Sen. Chuck Hagel, Sen. Jeff Sessions, and Rep. Ron Paul. More than a dozen other Congressional members haven't decided whether or not they would commit to the Arizona Senator.

Obama Will Move DNC Headquarters to Chicago Print E-mail

Large parts of the Democratic National Committee's operations will be moving to Chicago to coordinate with the Obama campaign and run a more effective national campaign, according to Politico.

The current staff of the DNC will be given a choice to move to Chicago, join state run campaigns, or stay in Washington D.C. where the DNC political department will be dramatically changed. The DNC's state coordination efforts will be largely run by Obama's Chicago staff members.

U.S. Coalition Releases Pakistan Airstrike Video Print E-mail

The U.S. released the video that shows the airstrike that killed 11 Pakistani troops.

The attack occurred late Tuesday night as NATO forces were engaged in a battle with the Taliban along the volatile Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The airstrike was conducted using unmanned drone an no coalition troops crossed the border into Pakistan.

A Pakistani Army spokesperson condemned the attack and called it "cowardly". The spokesperson also said that the attack undermined the cooperative efforts against the war on terror.

A Pentagon official said the airstrike was launched under rules that allow the coalition forces to cross over the border if they are in pursuit of the enemy. The coalition also said that they had issued a warning to the Pakistani Army that the strike was coming.

Coalition forces had also killed 15 Taliban militants during the fighting.

Supreme Court Rules Terror Detainees Can Challenge Their Detentions Print E-mail

In a 5-4 decision today, the Supreme Court ruled that suspected terrorists that are being held by the US have a constitutional right to challenge their detentions in civilian courts, according to the AP.

This decision is a blow to the Bush administration who has argued that terror suspects have no rights.
