The beginnning of May has finally brought a smile to my campaign weary features. Thank goodness for the Chamorros and the turn out in Guam. They may be small and pretty, but, damnit, they have a tiny say in whats goin' down on the trudge toward the Democratic Convention, and have expressed it eloquently. Now if we can only honour them truly by giving them a bit more say, something realistic like, say a true vote? Territory status is so vague; especially since it's been 110 years and not much has changed. Guam, Purto Rico, Samoa, Christmas Island and others: let's give them real authority over legislation that effects them or Rhode Island, Which brings me to states which have size-complexes, like Rhode Island, Delaware and Texas. No, apparent sizes, I think that's what i'm gravitating to. A standing Hillary Ciinton towering over poor george stephanopolis, repeatedly, to make her point about...something or other, it was that important. It wasn't so much what she saysing, but how she did it. Standing over the lil' guy who couldn't get in the picure, because the camera folks couldn't keep them both in shot. And since she was talking, the camera was on her, not on the hapless host. They fumbled about for a bit until georgie finally stood up, making it obvious to all that he is few inches shorter than Ms. Clinton. I guess Obama didn't fare all that well, on the other hand. He looked kinda' dogged and weary as he answered yet another question about his former pastor. I don't think he liked the smell of what Tim Russert was cooking. I haven't really had anything to smile at recently: it's no good to say "I told you so," about Rev. Wright, even though I did complain about his homophobic hate-mongering about 3 months before it was front-page news. Folks always shoot the messenger. If May continues at this rate, I should be in stitches by June. -- ( the above was written with some help from the NY Times, Alessanda Stanley, and the curmudgeon that lives in my head) |
